Allison Horwood - Physiotherapy Resident

Allie is dedicated to helping her clients achieve a healthy active lifestyle through a multifaceted approach to health care. She recently finished her Master’s of Science in Physical Therapy from Queen’s University. Prior to this, she graduated from McMaster University in 2014 with a Bachelor’s of Science with Honours in Kinesiology. Allie is a member of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association and has completed her level 1 manual therapy with the orthopaedic division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association. She is also certified through Complete Concussions Management as a Certified Concussions Management Provider, able to manage and treat patients with concussion and post-concussion syndrome.

Allie has a strong interest in manual therapy and working with athletes. She has worked as a personal trainer in the past, where she designed sport specific and goal directed training programs for many elite athletes and sports teams. She has taken this knowledge and incorporates it into her treatment programs for her patients. Along with specific exercise and training programs, she uses acupuncture, various manual therapy techniques and education to ensure her patients are receiving the best possible care and reaching their goals.

Allie grew up in Belleville and attended Quinte Secondary School, where she played a variety of sports including hockey, soccer, swimming and ran with the cross-country and track team. She continues to play hockey in her spare time and is an avid runner. She has completed the Toronto Waterfront Marathon and Around the Bay 30km road race. Through her own athletic experiences and working as a personal trainer, Allie has gained a strong understanding of how the human body works and looks forward to using this knowledge to help individuals reach their physical goals.
