Dr. Matthew Wong - Chiropractor and Clinic Co-owner

Dr. Wong is passionate about improving patient health and athletic performance through the use of integrated therapeutic techniques. A graduate of the University of Western Ontario with an honours degree in Kinesiology, he has worked extensively with biomechanics and athletic injuries. While studying there, he worked as a trainer for the Mustangs Football Team. His role here was to work with athletes on injury diagnostics and management, as well as strength and conditioning programming. Dr. Wong subsequently received his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC), while also studying Medical Acupuncture at McMaster University. He is also trained in the treatment and management of concussion and post- concussion syndrome through Complete Concussion Management.

As an experienced Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, he has worked with a variety of clientele, ranging from elite/professional athlete to the sedentary population initiating their first exercise program. Dr. Wong has also done training with the experts from the Prague school of rehabilitation (Czech Republic), in Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS). This training has enabled him to understand neurodevelopmental aspects of motor control, in order to assess and restore dysfunction of the locomotor system and associated syndromes.

Through the combination of approaches from the sports medicine and strength & conditioning fields, Dr. Wong has integrated a functional assessment and therapeutic style to better understand movement and exercise for the patient/athlete.

Education is a focal point for Dr. Wong. He strongly believes in the importance of teaching his patients how their postural imbalances, weaknesses and mobility issues can lead to pain and performance deficits. Through this understanding, he is able to customize therapy and rehabilitative exercise to accelerate your recovery and prevent recurrences. As an athlete, Dr. Wong has a keen interest in physical activities and sports. He treats many athletes in the Quinte area, particularly a large percentage of the rugby, bodybuilding/fitness, crossfit, and golf community.

Dr. Wong enjoys the challenge of working with a variety of patients and assisting them to return to optimal levels of health, mobility and performance. He believes in an integrated approach to treatment and, along with Dr. Osborne, has assembled a dedicated team of healthcare professionals with similar values. He and Dr. Osborne purchased the BIHC practice in 2011 and look forward to treating patients at the new and improved facility located at 777 Bell Blvd.
